#MyReasonWhy Video Contest

In October 2016, the National Federation of High School Association (NFHS) launched a nation-wide storytelling campaign called #MyReasonWhy. The campaign is all about high school students who participate in sports and activities at their schools. The Federation wants to hear the role high school sports and activities have played the lives of students throughout the country.

We know that sports and activities help students do more than build skill and character development. Participation in sports and activities gives students a sense of self and community- and research shows that 92 percent of parents are in agreement that they lead to healthier lifestyles later in life.

To help bring #MyReasonWhy to life in New Hampshire, the 2017 NH Student Leadership Conference (NHSLC17) has decided to use this theme as the video contest. We want to hear authentic stories of students in NH and why they participate in high school athletics and activities.

Creat a video with students from your school explaining why you participate in activities at your school. To enter your video in our contest, please do the following:

  1. Make sure the video is NO LONGER THAN 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
  2. Upload the video to YouTube.
  3. Tweet the link
  • Make sure you mention @NHIAA_LOA
  • Make sure you #MyReasonWhy
  • Make sure it's a public account so we can see your entry!

Finalists will be chosen and videos will be played in front of 400+ attendees of NHSLC17. Those attendees will also be voting on the winner of the contest!

We want to hear and see #MyReasonWhy content from all types of groups within our high schools (i.e. athletic teams, SALT/SALC groups, student government, bands, clubs, etc.).

We encourage our school SALT/SALC groups to put their heads together to create a video that incorporates the importance of making healthy choices and how that relates to participation in athletics and activities in NH.

Please submit your video by Sunday, March 12th to be in the contest. But keep in mind- this is a nation-wide campaign. We would love to see NH students participatin in #MyReasonWhy for the remainder of the school year!

Students at Nashua High School South already created a #MyReasonWhy video:
